Learning is not limited to books, and the classroom can extend beyond the campus. OCIS always believes that the vast world is the stage for students' growth. On October 13th, the annual autumn practice arrived as scheduled.

This year, different student age groups have been arranged with different themes. The primary school and 7th/8th grades organized ecological and natural landscape exploration activities that integrated science popularization, education, outdoor expansion, and other activities; Senior Secondary School conducts visits to well-known enterprises and exploratory learning based on specific themes related to business and economics courses.

Under the guidance of teachers, children from the OCIS Primary walked out of classrooms and arrived at the world's longest underground water erosion cave - Benxi Water Cave. Through outdoor activities, they engaged in interdisciplinary (including English, science, and art) project-based learning, transforming the learning of English and popular science knowledge from traditional monologue output to interactive and stimulating learning.

Along the way, the children visited the long and deep water caves with stalactites, visited the museum with rich collections, learned about the formation of mineral substance , and enjoyed the magical and dreamlike beauty created by nature. They perceived nature while walking, grew knowledge through communication, and received education in happiness!

Today OCIS held its first Business Field Trip in which our Secondary students in Grades 9 thru 12 were treated to a rare opportunity to explore various businesses. From within these business establishments, our students were able to gain better insight and perspective. These business managers graciously opened their businesses and took our students and staff on a tour of their operations. We were also given an introduction to their Corporate Culture and Philosophy which was most illuminating for our Upper Secondary students who saw the integration of various Humanities subjects into business.  The main objective of this Business Field Trip was for students to connect their curriculum to Real World applications and scenarios.  Our students and teachers were engrossed in this experience as we explored 3 business establishments for the day.  It was a great opportunity for students to discover and assimilate knowledge; it was likewise an opportunity for teachers to watch their students learn.  Our day culminated with individual questions for each business that our students designed followed by a reflection of the Field Trip.  It was a most rewarding experience for all.
